The much-awaited night market at Kalikapur off the EM Bypass is likely to be open just before the pujas.
According to sources from the urban development department, the KMDA authorities are working out the plan to have the night market to get inaugurated on the auspicious day of Mahalaya. The earlier plan was to open the night market on the eve of Independence Day.
According to plans, the night market, the first of its kind in the city will have about 100 stalls stretching over a few hundred meters of the EM Bypass at Kalikapur. The plan is that the stalls would remain open from late evening to early morning.
On Wednesday, state urban development minister Firhad Hakim inaugurated an exclusive boat at the floating market at Patuli that was handed over to Chaitali Das, a social entrepreneur to showcase jute diversified products crafted by prison artisans. The boat would be manned by two visually impaired persons.
