Among several Indian states, the focus of Australia at present is on Bengal, Australian deputy high commissioner Rod Hilton said in Kolkata on Thursday. He said this while talking at a session in Bengal Chamber of Commerce.
According to Hilton, Bengal is of special importance to Australia in sectors like mining resources, education, infrastructure and tourism.
Conversation is on with the government about “skilling” and education programmes, since many students from India study there in Australia.
The country will be opening its fourth consulate in India in Kolkata by the year-end or in January, she added.
