The 2018 Indo Korean Taekwondo Cultural Festival and International Award Ceremony will take place on December 8 and December 9 in Kolkata. The event is being organised by Roy’s Taekwondo Academy in association with Calcutta Chamber of Commerce, Assorted Motion Pictures, Bengal Film & Television Chamber of Commerce, Gyeonggi-do Taekwondo Association which is the largest sports association in Korea under Gyeonggi province government and Korea Taekwondo Association under government of South Korea.
There will be a taekwondo demonstration by taekwondo exponents as well as a festival on the occasion in presence of eminent international and national dignitaries, industrialist and film personalities. The Indian cultural festival would be organised at Nazrul Tirtha in New Town and the Korean cultural and world taekwondo demonstration programme would be organised at Biswa Bangla Convention Centre on December 9.
A Korean delegation will be present on the occasion. Great Grand Master Kim Kyung Duk, president of Gyeonggi-do Taekwondo Association and vice chairman of Korea National Council of Sports and Korea Taekwondo Association will be heading the Korean delegation.
A memorandum of understanding will also be signed between Roy’s Taekwondo Academy, India and GCS International, Seoul, a United Nations organisation on the occasion for promotion of world peace through the art of taekwondo. Seok Jae Kang, secretary general of GCS International, Seoul and taekwondo Hall of Fame recipient Grand Master Pradipta Kumar Roy will be present on the occasion of the MoU signing.
The Korean taekwondo demonstration team will also be present at an event at Ramakrishna Mission, Belur on December 10. “It is a cultural exchange programme between South Korea and our country where the art of taekwondo and its cultural flavour will be represented,” said International Master Ruma Roy Chowdhury, joint secretary of 2018 Indo Korean Taekwondo Cultural Festival Committee.
