Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (IIM-C) is changing the name of Post Graduate Program for Executives (PGPEX) to Masters of Business Administration for Executives Program (MBA-EP), thus acknowledging a one-year diploma as a degree programme. It will change the status of one-year diploma courses in our country which till now was hesitant to approve them.
IIM-Ahmedabad and IIM- Bangalore have already introduced the changes.
“From the upcoming convocation on April 6, we are awarding MBA for executives program instead of PGPEX. It is our regular one-year programme for executives working in the industry,” said a source. He added, “the programme was initiated in 2006 and this will be the 12th batch. The MBA-EP will be handed over to 66 candidates.”
The programme has been renamed only after the board of governors (BOG) — the highest decision making body of the institute — gave a go-ahead to the proposal. “This happened as per the IIM Act,” said a source.
