Visual impairment and poverty could do little to stop these four students at Voice of World, a school for persons with visual impairment in Behala, from achieving excellence in Madhyamik. Anjana Mondal, Malati Ghosh, Alamgir Biswas and Biswajit Ghosh scored Grade A.

“The constant support from my parents, teachers and friends helped me achieve this result,” Anjana told TOI. She feels her passion for trekking boosted her confidence. Malati, who prefers sports over academics, said she was indebted to Voice of World. “From Braille texts to guidance and rebuke, the teachers helped me take the step, forward” said Malati. Biswajit said, “I was confident I could overcome my limitations.” He looks to take up vocational course at ITI. For Alamgir, scoring Grade A was a dream come true. The Sachin fan said, “My parents always motivated me.”
