Facing problems due to garbage piled up in front of your house or non-functional streetlights at New Town? The solution is just a phone call away.
The Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation (Hidco), along with New Town Kolkata Development Authority (NKDA), has come up with a toll-free helpline number — 1800-103-7652 — for New Town residents that will operate 24 hours.
The number has already started functioning and the authorities are getting ready for the official launch on Tuesday.
NKDA authorities are making the last-minute fine-tuning. Officials said that the helpline number was back-ended with a full call centre set up and tailor-made software that will operate 24×7 for the convenience of the residents.
“Residents of the township will be able to lodge complaints if they fail to receive civic amenities and raise service requests. We will be able to track the complaints and take immediate action. Once the service request is sorted out, residents will also be able to give their feedback on the helpline as to how the service was provided,” explained an official.
Besides, the helpline will also act as a question-and-answer platform where not only New Town residents, but those from Kolkata will also be able to get details about various programmes and events being organised in the township.
“One will be able to get information on various events, including their venues and timings. Also, one will get to know about movie timings and where they are being shown,” the official added.
The helpline will also give information about visiting hours at Biswa Bangla Gate and Eco Park.
