It’s not often that you get to meet families of the defence forces and also hear the stories of bravery narrated by the armed force officials themselves. But Team Panther, including director Anshuman Pratyush, lead actor Jeet, actress Shraddha Das, Saswata Chatterjee, Sourav and Shantilal Mukherjee, was present at a south Kolkata housing complex on Wednesday evening where several families of the defence forces live.
The film team interacted with the retired armed force officials and were intrigued to listen to their spine-chilling stories from when they were posted in the border area in Jammu and Kashmir and at other places. Before Team Panther took to the stage, Major General (retd) Ashok Kumar Sen, Commander (retd) Ranjit Dey and Group Captain JC Chowdhury and Brigadier Debashish Das shared their stories to the audience. This was followed by the screening of the film’s teaser and also the song, Vande Mataram, which has been rearranged and used in the film. Then the Panther team was welcomed on stage and was greeted with a loud round of applause.
The director said, “We are leading a peaceful life and feel safe all the time. This is only because of what the defence forces do for us. The film Panther is a tribute to all the bravehearts, who spend sleepless nights often so that the entire country can sleep in peace. Today, we are here at the residential complex to thank all the members of the defence forces from the bottom of our heart.” The film’s tagline says ‘Hindustan Meri Jaan’, and explaining this, Jeet said, “Hindustan meri jaan tab hi hai kyun ki aap ki jaan borders pe Hindustan ke liye khadi hai isiliye.”
The wives and daughters of the armed force officials present at the event also requested Jeet to dance for them. The actor obliged everyone by showing some cool moves along with the members of the audience. Joining Jeet on stage was Shraddha and some even screamed: ‘Apuda (Saswata), please dance for us too’. The memorable evening drew to a close with everyone singing the National Anthem.
