From stepping up security to immediate arrest of those assaulting doctors and other hospital staffers — Kolkata Police and the state health department have started a series of measures to ensure safety of doctors. The latest in this has been training private security personnel assisting the hospital security.
As part of a confidence-building exercise, a group of private securitymen underwent training at SSKM Hospital on Saturday. They were trained to handle flashpoints during mob attacks, assist police in controlling law and order, and deal with exigencies like a fire.
“This was part of Kolkata Police’s efforts in mitigating security issues in hospitals. The training will be replicated at other hospitals. This is not a one time training. Such training will be validated from time to time,” said a senior police officer.
