West Bengal governor gives assent to medical act

West Bengal governor Jagdeep Dhankhar on Thursday gave assent to the bill “The West Bengal Clinical Establishments (Registration, Regulation and Transparency) (Amendment) Bill 2019”.

As a result, in the explanation to sub-clause (ii) clause (c) of section 2 of the West Bengal Clinical Establishments (Registration, Regulation and Transparency) Act, 2017, for the words, which shall have to be displayed as ‘Medical Consultation Clinic’, the words “and such other procedures as may be prescribed and the same shall have to be displayed as ‘Medical Consultation Clinic’.” shall be substituted. This will facilitate a single doctor to manage his patients more effectively.

The governor also gave assent to the bill “The West Bengal Allied-Medical and Para-Medical Council (Amendment) Bill 2019” on Tuesday. As a result, the state government will be able to nominate the president and the vice-president of the said council. It will enable the council to discharge its functions under the said Act expeditiously and effectively.
