The Chandrayaan II mission will come alive at Kolkata’s Sreebhumi Sporting Club Durga puja this year. Babu Pal, the much-hallowed light artisan from Chandernagore, will replicate the mission through his lighting work at the pandal.
Pal said he hit upon the idea and drew inspiration from the fact that his fellow Hooghly resident Chandrakanta Kumar played a key role in the project.
A son of Chandannagore, Pal made headlines through his lighting art at Amitabh Bachchan’s Mumbai house during 2016 Diwali. Last year, he lit up the Golden Temple at Amritsar during a religious occasion. These apart, Pal’s testimonial boasts of major lighting art at many other celeb homes. Every Durga Puja, Pal’s art leaves visitors to Kolkata’s Sreebhumi pandal enthralled. This will be Pal’s ninth year at the Sreebhumi pandal.
Pal said: “The theme for my lighting work at the Sreebhumi Durga Puja pandal this year is the Chandrayaan II mission. I will try to show that the moon is not distant for mankind. The light decoration will replicate Chandrayaan II being launched from Sriharikota and then circling the moon.”
