IIT-Kharagpur and RKM Vidyamandira professors from West Bengal have been selected for the prestigious Young Engineer Award 2019 by the Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE).
INAE has selected Sandip Chakraborty from the Department of Computer Science & Engineering, IIT Kharagpur. Chakraborty is also associated with the Complex Network Research Group (CNeRG). IIT Kharagpur took it to Twitter in congratulating Chakraborty.
Uttam Kumar Ghorai, head of the department of industrial and applied chemistry, Ramakrishna Mission Vidyamandira, Howrah, is also selected for the award. The award assumes greater importance for Ghorai as he became the first professor of degree college to be conferred with it. The residential college, credited potential for excellence by NAAC, posted on the update on their official website.
INAE is the apex body and promotes the practice of engineering and technology and the related sciences for their application to solving problems of national importance.
The selected professors will be awarded prize money of Rs 1 lakh along with a citation. All INAE Young Engineer awardees will also become INAE Young Associates on the conferment of the award and shall continue to be “INAE Young Associates” till attaining 45 years of age. The entire list of awardees will be available on the official website shortly.
The award is in recognition of engineering research, excellence in engineering design, technology development and technology transfer. The shortlisted nominees will be invited to make a presentation followed by an interaction with the Selection Committee on dates to be announced later.
