West Bengal Pollution Control Board (WBPCB) launched Paribesh app officially on Monday, making it every citizen’s responsibility to fight pollution.
A citizen can now locate any environmental violation, take its photograph and upload the same in the app for real-time action to be taken by the enforcement authorities and earn prize for that.
“We are also holding Green Puja contest through the app during the Durga Puja. A user of the app launched by WBPCB can participate in the contest by uploading the pictures of idols as well as other activities, to be held as part of the festival, and write feedback. WBPCB can consider giving cash awards worth Rs 50,000, Rs 40,000 and Rs 30,000 to three best Puja committees respectively. Besides, Rs 10,000 will be awarded to 10 Puja committees as consolation prizes,” said WBPCB member secretary, Rajesh Kumar.
