As a part of the ongoing celebrations to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, West Bengal governor Jagdeep Dhankhar along with first lady Sudesh Dhankhar planted saplings of Mango tree and Rubber tree in the south lawn of Raj Bhavan, Kolkata, on Wednesday.
On this occasion governor Dhankhar said, Mahatma Gandhi’s appeal and impact are beyond the frontiers of any nation. “Let us not cage Gandhi in politics, region or country. Today is the birth anniversary of the Father of the nation, who impacted the world at a memorable level,” he said.
Mentioning the speech of honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the United Nations he said, “We must believe in the great values of Mahatma whether about environment peace or non-violence.”
Governor said, “I as the first citizen, first servant and the first governor born in independent India for West Bengal, will do everything in my control to propagate great sublime values in which Mahatma believed. The greatest achievement of Mahatma was that he first practised and then preached”.
