The Bengal government is soon going to introduce an e-service book for its employees. All departments have been asked to direct employees to enter all details from the authenticated physical service book to the e-service book from November 15 to December 15. The process of approval of the service book by the office of the custodian is to be completed by December 31, 2019.
Additional chief secretary (finance) H K Dwivedi issued a letter on November 5 in which he stated that in order to provide relief to employees during their service life and during retirement, the online system of management of service books is going to be introduced, the date of which will be announced soon.
The exercise is being done as employees often face problems as service books are not updated properly or are damaged or lost or there are erroneous entries. The letter added that for pending leave applications other than CL is to be done by the custodian by November 15. Dwivedi has said that all cadre-controlling authorities should now opt for the online mode.
The digital format approved by the custodian will be considered as authenticated service record of an employee. “However, records related to training, departmental proceedings, publications, awards and service verification is to be made by the custodian manually,” a finance department official said.
