The Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation (BMC) is introducing four road cleaning vehicles to wash off the roads of Salt Lake and Rajarhat.
The civic authorities on Wednesday held the MMIC meeting on Wednesday following which Bidhannagar mayor Krishna Chakraborty said that the civic authorities are taking up a number of initiatives to keep Bidhannagar area clean and green.
“The civic body’s environment department is being handed over the four road cleaning vehicles that will wash off the roads to keep it clean,” Chakraborty said. The vehicles will be introduced to wash off the main thoroughfares in different places in the township on a regular basis.
Chakraborty also added that road repair work has started off in Salt Lake and will be taken up in all the 41 wards of the corporation.
The civic authorities have also started using drones to detect the accumulation of stagnant water. “We are using a drone to detect stagnant water and also spraying larvaecide through drones so that the remotest corners could be covered,” the mayor said. The ward 38 committees on Wednesday conducted using a drone to detect and spray larvaecide in their respective area.
The Bidhannagar mayor also said that the civic body was also taking up plantation drive across the corporation area to increase greenery.
