The state government is mulling a transparent transfer policy for teachers. State education minister Partha Chatterjee announced it on Monday taking a cue from the online admission policy that the education department introduced last year.
“We are trying to make the transfer process of teachers transparent,” the education minister said on Monday. The announcement has come as a relief to thousands of teachers who are awaiting transfers for years.
Ishita De, a history teacher from Behala is teaching at a higher secondary school in Diamond Harbour. De applied to the school managing committee seeking a transfer because she has been staying in Howrah since she got married two years ago in 2017. “I have been waiting for two years. The school managing committee appreciates my problem. But the panel can’t process my application on grounds that it is not getting another case of mutual transfer,” De said.
Applicants hope the new system may throw open the choices available to the applicant if all the transfer applications are uploaded on the website.
