The Royal Calcutta Golf Club (RCGC) is going to host one of the biggest professional golf tournaments in the country in December. Along with the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and a private company, RCGC have launched the ICC RCGC Open Golf Championship. The tournament will be staged at the historic grounds of the club from December between 11 to December 15.
The tournament, with a prize money of Rs 40 lakh, will feature some top Indian professionals and promising rookies like Kshitij Naveed Kaul, Priyanshu Singh, Udayan Mane, Karandeep Kochhar, Chiragh Kumar, Shamim Khan and Mukesh Kumar, to name a few.
“The tournament has a unique format which ensures greater participation of amateurs, thus adding more excitement. Amateurs will play alongside the professionals on the Pro-Am day on December 11 as well as in the last two rounds of the main event on December 14 and 15,” said Prasant Jalan, one of the members of the club and also a member of the organising committee of the tournament.
Pradeep Sureka, vice-president, ICC, said, “We are happy to have leading professionals as well as amateurs participating in this tournament. We are happy to let you know that alongside the tournament, we are also organising a grand conclave. The conference will be attended by government officials, consultants and corporate officers.”
