Chinese smartphone giant Oppo is embarking on innovative design, smart and stylish look to sell its handsets to Indian millennials.
Talking to TOI at the launch of its latest offering OPPO F15, Sumit Walia, vice president (product & marketing), OPPO India, said: “We are targeting GenY people who spend money to flaunt sleek look and smart features of their handsets. This segment primarily goes for a beautiful or a stylish handset. Millennials look for latest multi-featured cameras, sleek body and light weight. HD screen, fast charging facilities and hassle-free performance are the other parameters preferred by this segment.”
Recently, the company has tied up with Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel to enable Wi-Fi calling facility on their handsets. “Normally, youths have less patience. The new auto Wi-Fi calling will ensure unhindered calling amid a poor cellular network,” claimed Walia.
The handset maker has increased its market share in India to 11.8% as per the latest IDC data. “We registered a 92.3% year-on-year growth in gaining the handset sales market. In Kolkata, we have 12.9% market pie (with 59.9% YoY rise), while in Bengal, it is 13.5% (with 72.7% YoY growth),” the Oppo VP (product & marketing) added.
The global premium brand, which had started selling handsets in India six years ago, seeks to grow across all price segments via both online and offline channels.
“The F series has been a testimony to this approach and offered a bouquet of exciting features. Our latest edition to the F series, the ultra-portable OPPO F15 will introduce not only a new level of fun, creativity, speed but also a stylish design,” Walia signed off.
