Satyajit Ray’s artworks that he did for his film posters, booklets, magazine covers, postal stamp and book covers were widely appreciated during his time. They are still works of wonder for the movie magician’s thousands of followers. To make their collection a little more special and as part of Ray’s birth centenary celebrations, an event held in the city recently saw the release of Ekshoy Baro — a wall calendar featuring all his artworks.
Sandip Ray graced the occasion along with Devajit Bandyopadhyay, Mallar Ghosh, Debasis Mukhopadhyay, Anindya Banerjee, Riddhi Bandyopadhyay, Sujoy Prosad Chatterjee, among others. “It’s great to start the year with this special calendar launch. Many know about my father as the filmmaker but artiste Satyajit Ray was also a genius,” Sandip Ray said.
Ekshoy Baro will have twelve selective art works, two per month to celebrate Ray’s birth centenary year. This calendar covers his artistry as a class designer.
