A fourth year UG student of Jadavpur University’s electronics and tele-communication engineering department has secured an all India rank of 5 in the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) Examination, 2020.
Arghadip Das, whose examination paper was electronics and communication engineering, got 78.3 out of 100. His total GATE score is 953.
Das, who hails from Diamond Habour and did his schooling from Ramakrishna Mission Sikshamandir, stays at Jadavpur’s Palbazar area for studies.
He had already done an internship and got a pre-placement offer while he was preparing to appear in the GATE examination.
“GATE was my main target. I had been taking coaching for the last two years after my second year, to appear in the GATE examination. I prepared myself by solving previous question papers and also took online test series. My future plan is to do Master’s from IISC, Bangalore,” he said. Das’s department professors were elated over his achievement, saying that he has always been a class topper and a bright and intelligent student all along.
“He comes from a very humble background and is dedicated to his studies,” said a department professor. “We expect the number of candidates securing high rank will soar by Monday once more students get to know their scores. Even last year there were GATE students from the state, who had secured a top rank in some of the engineering streams,” said a JU teacher.
