It is a lockdown. So what! With Good Friday on April 10, Easter is just round the corner and 80-year-old Saldanha Bakery is gearing up for it with full gusto. The family run venture is producing Easter bunnies, marzipan eggs, Good Friday hot cross buns, Easter baskets and what not, and delivering it to the doorsteps of their patrons through what they called a ‘thorough sanitised chain’. Not just that, the bakery is also producing bread and delivering it to the local elderly people and old age homes.
“For many of our patrons, Easter is incomplete without our stuff. In this time of crisis, We are doing our bit to cheer up the people as a local baker,” said Alisha Alexander, the fourth generation baker of the iconic bakery.
They claimed that they are taking extra care in sanitising their delivery chain. “The cars are sanitised and the delivery folks are keeping themselves utmost clean. Everyone is using sanitisers frequently. We are also delivering bread to the elderly people and in old age homes. Hence, our responsibility went a notch higher,” said Alisha.
