We get it. It’s been over two weeks since India went under lockdown and your eyebrows and body hair are acting up. If grooming sessions, that were previously outsourced, have become the need of the hour for you, we suggest you take matters into your own hands. At-home grooming, including skin care, haircuts and more, has potential if you know a bit of beauty wizardry. While men can give themselves a not-so-bad haircut and a shave at home, a woman’s regimen is a tad elaborate. But worry not, ladies, we bring you some simple tips that will get you sorted!
Simple skincare routine to follow at home
We are all aware of the basic drill of cleansing, toning and moisturising. But if you are missing the monthly dose of your relaxing facial session at the salon, a quick-fix pack at home can leave your skin feeling fresh, hydrated and supple. To exfoliate your skin, crush grains of rice, mix it with rose water or milk and scrub your face to get rid of the dead skin cells. Follow it up with a moisturiser.
Ingredients: 1 cup granulated white sugar, 1 tbsp of lemon juice and 1/4 cup of honey
Process: Melt the sugar in a pot over medium heat. Once the sugar has caramelised, add few drops of lemon juice and honey. Use a spatula to apply the wax. If you don’t have proper wax strips at home, you can cut long denim strips instead.
DIY face packs to brighten your skin
Cucumber and sugar face pack:
Add a tablespoon of sugar to mashed cucumber slices and refrigerate the mix for some time. Once it’s cool, apply the paste on your face, massaging in circular motion. Leave it on for 15 minutes and rinse off.
Lemon and honey face pack:
Take one tablespoon each of lemon juice and honey, and add an egg white. Keep the pack on your face for 15 to 20 minutes and wash it off with water.

Quarantine makeover? Yes, please
We know haircuts at home can be disastrous. But, not with these handy tips! If you are in desperate need of a little trim, it’s perfectly fine to give yourself a quick fix at home. Here’s how…
1. Get the right tools: A pair of sharp scissors, a fine-tooth comb and a hand-held mirror are all you need
2. Comb your hair well: Wet the ends, comb it and part your hair into sections
3. Snip it right: Bring your hair to the front and snip at an angle or straight, depending on if you prefer a rounded or blunt shape to your cut
