Whoever thought that coffee was the flavour of the season was highly mistaken. Those who swear by their cuppas have now come up with several immunity-boosting teas to beat the #DalgonaTrend. These super healthy drinks, currently trending on social media, are not only tasty but are also easy to prepare. Here are a few trending options you can easily brew at home…

Turmeric tea

Perhaps what makes this drink truly fascinating is its versatility. It can easily absorb any flavour. Turmeric tea, which seems to have gone viral on social media, is consumed for its anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. People suffering from pain should drink it regularly. It also helps fight cold or flu. To make this immunity-boosting tea, add grated ginger along with one teaspoon of turmeric in two cups of water. Keep it on a low flame for 10 minutes. Dip a tea bag (optional) before turning off the burner. Add one tablespoon of lemon juice. A dash of honey can act as a sweetener.

Ginger tea

If you are not in a mood to experiment, you can stick to this classic version. Apart from a nice flavour, ginger keeps the body warm. Mix freshly grated ginger in water and boil it. Strain and add honey, lemon juice and cinnamon powder before serving. You can drink this potion regularly to keep cold, cough and fever at bay. While ginger kills germs, honey soothes sore throats. Again, ginger and cinnamon are helpful in alleviating symptoms of a bad stomach.

Basil Tea
Nobody wants to be plagued with a cold or flu, especially now that we are under lockdown. Tulsi — dried, fresh or powdered — has several healing properties. This tea boosts immunity and helps prevent illnesses like cold, cough, bronchitis and asthma. Just put four or five basil leaves into a saucepan with two cups of water. You can add cardamom and ginger for added impact. Let the water absorb its colour and flavour. Bring to a boil and strain in a cup. Add honey and lemon. Your magic tonic is ready.

Lemon and pepper tea

This concoction is great for cold, cough, fever, sinus pressure and balancing body’s water content. It reduces joint aches. Making lemon and pepper tea at home is quick and easy. Take two cups of water, one teaspoon of ground black pepper, one tablespoon of honey and one teaspoon of lemon juice. Bring the water to a boil. If you want a stronger version, you can let all the ingredients simmer for a few minutes more. Strain and drink while hot.
