There are only a few Bengalis who have truly transcended borders and boundaries. Pt Ravishankar stands out among these few. Not only was he a world-class sitar maestro, but an artist who embraced arts to create a new global language. Interdisciplinary artiste Sujoy Prosad Chatterjee and his independent artistes’ collective came forward to put up a homage on Bengali New Year’s day. Keeping in mind his birth centenary year a public librarian, a criminal lawyer, a doctor, a banker and a content writer collaborated to create a narrative for the audio visual. Designed by Arka Goswami, the tribute features the voices of Suparna Datta, Sharmistha Ray, Indira, Sweta Dey and Subhasree Patel spinning the yarn around the life and times of Pt Ravi shankar. ” When the boundaries are being blurred by a pandemic, we must celebrate lives of such icons whose arts ushered in peace and artistic paths for generations to follow,” said Sujoy.
