We all know how Babu, the 31-year old chimpanzee at the Alipore Zoo, was upset because of the lockdown. Unlike his other zoo inmates, he was grumpy without human beings around. Understanding his predicament, the zoo authorities took special measure to cheer him up. And now, the chimpanzee is doing much better.
Asis Kumar Samanta, one of the directors at the zoo, informed that their efforts are showing results. There have been changes in Babu’s behaviour. A few weeks back, Asis, along with other zoo workers, gathered in front of Babu’s enclosure and started talking to him. They clapped and cheered for him as well. Babu, who was sitting quietly in a corner, came out running and started communicating with the directors. “He is very important to us and we will do everything for his wellbeing,” said Asis.
