Unlike previous years, there will be no on-site National Youth Day celebrations at Belur Math, the headquarters of Ramakrishna Mission, on January 12 because of Covid situation. The day is celebrated countrywide as birthday of Swami Vivekananda.
But, other centres of RKM will go virtual. Programmes involving the monks will be live-streamed on social media from the centres.
Mayer Bari at Bagbazar, Swami Vivekananda’s ancestral home at Manicktala and RKM Narendrapur used to observe Youth Day with a lot of zest. “We will only allow devotees to offer flowers and pray at the feet of Swamiji’s statue,” said spokesperson of Swamiji’s ancestral home, Swami Jnanalokanandaji. Virtual programmes have been lined up of which the discourse by Swami Subiranandaji, general secretary of RKM, is of special interest to devotees.
Swami Nityamuktananda, spokesperson of Mayer Bari, said a pre-recorded programme by youths will be live-streamed on Tuesday. RKM Narendrapur students will put together poetries and songs of teachings that will be streamed on social media, said Sandipan Maharaj, principal of RKM school, Narendrapur.
