Recently, a city-based club conducted a grand vintage and supercar show on Park Street. The main reason for the show was to create awareness among people against the usage of plastic and how it is polluting nature. The show kick-started with a quiz and a few more game shows.
It was a sight to behold on Saturday evening, when about 30 vintage cars entered the venue one by one, followed by five supercars. Deborshi Sadhan Billy Bose, chief coordinator of a sports association, said that they were trying to make a statement with the cars. “Plastic is extensively used in all the new cars, while the old cars didn’t have any. So, we wanted to show that cars can be made without plastic too,” he added.
The event saw more than 200 guests, who collected their passes online. Adrija Barik, who was at the venue with her two sons, said that this was the third vintage car show she witnessed. “My elder son is a car enthusiast. So, we watch almost all vintage car shows and rallies in Kolkata. I personally like anything that is old, and some of these cars are century-old,” she added.
