It was an evening of music, adda and lots of fun at a rooftop musical show, Shoi Tor Sathe, which took place in the city on Sunday. The event was organised to celebrate International Women’s Day, which was on March 8. It was the sixth season of the show.One of the highlights of the show was that all the performers were female singers. Apart from the musical performances, singers Jojo, Anweshaa Dattagupta and veteran actress Swagata Mukherjee were felicitated at the event for their achievements in the field of art and culture.Jojo said, “I am so happy to be a part of this event. For all these years, I wasn’t aware that such a lovely rooftop musical show takes place in my city. I salute the organisers for putting up the show nicely.”Anweshaa too mesmerised everyone with her rendition of the Tagore’s Amaro Porano Jaha Chaye. Before she started to sing, she said, “I am enjoying all the performances by the female artistes today. It’s lovely to see the male musicians supporting the female artistes during their performances.”
Some of the other performers at the show included Puja Banik, Antara Saha, Riddhi Lahiri, Suprabha, Debanjali Lily and others. City-based bands, like The Miliputs, The Bong Divas and Gharana also presented their songs at the do.Sisters Ator and Anee, who performed at the rooftop musical show for the first time, said, “We had never seen a show completely dedicated to women. It’s a great opportunity for us to perform in front of such a lovely audience.” Veteran actress Swagata Mukherjee’s rendition of Pallo Latke was appreciated by the crowd.
