The former students of St James’ School, Kolkata, has taken a unique initiative. In order to educate the common people about COVID-19 vaccine and also to fight the rumours aroundit, the alumni association conducted a special vaccination drive for former teachers of the school. A total of 19 teachers were vaccinated recently.
According to a member of the association, several retired teachers of the school presently live alone in the city and many of them were a bit sceptical about whether or not to get the vaccination done. “They needed a moral boost — someone to tell them that the vaccine was safe,” said Pratap Dariyanani, one of the former students. So, in association with a private hospital, a group-vaccination drive was conducted. The former teachers were brought to the venue by the association and a special lunch was also organised for them.“Whatever we are today is because of these teaches and if we do not take care of them, it would be shameful,” Pratap added. Besides, the association believes this drive will help fight all the rumours and unnecessary anxiety about the vaccine.\
