IIM Calcutta continued with its excellent streak of placement of its students ensuring 100 per cent summer and final placement of the 2021-2022 batch with over 550 and 640 offers, respectively, maintaining its excellent record of cent percent placement, director Uttam Kumar Sarkar said in his annual report on the occasion of the 57thannual convocation of the institute on Friday evening.
A total of 479 students received their MBA degree in the two-year flagship MBA programme of the institute. A total of 79 students also completed the one-year MBA programme for the executives. Degrees were also awarded to graduating doctoral students.
IIM Calcutta has also started work on a modern nine-storied hostel with almost 1,000 rooms on the campus. The sports arena with two squash courts, two table tennis courts, two basketball courts and two badminton courts has already come up inside the campus.
Ashish Chauhan, MD & CEO of BSE, was the chief guest.
“Convocation is an opportunity to convey to our stakeholders and well-wishers about our performance so that they are assured that we are carrying out responsibilities entrusted on us satisfactorily,” said Sarkar. “We have maintained our streak of cent percent placements with this batch, too,” he added.
142 companies made 550 offers for summer placements in October last year and 192 companies made 640 offers for the final placements. All the students who opted to participate in the process were recruited.
IIM Calcutta registered 100% placement record for its outgoing 57th batch with an average salary of Rs 34 lakh per annum with the consulting sector making 49% of the offers. Several new recruiters like IIFL, Nykaa, Zomato, PremjiInvest, Emaar and Protiviti made a beeline to pick up talent from the campus.
“IIM Calcutta played a great role in shaping me as an individual and professional,” said Chauhan.
