Like every year, India Art Fair will take place on January 31 at the NSIC Exhibition Grounds in New Delhi. The event will continue till February 3.
The art fair will be decorated by Italian artist Andreya Anastasia who along with Bengal’s light artist Babu Pal have been working on a project, called ‘Break Through (living in the earth). Babu, a light artist from Bengal’s Chandannagar, has been working on this project for months. A former French colony, Chandannagar, has long been known for its decorative light works.
Babu Pal, who has displayed his work in Bengal’s puja pandals for over two decades, has also decorated Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan’s three houses in Mumbai.
The craftsman met the Italian artist on Jagadhatri Puja. Anastasia was stunned by the lighting beauties, created by Pal and decided to work with him on this project. He showed him the design, which was approved by director of Italian Institute of Culture, Andreya Baldio.
The preparation is almost finished in the Embassy of Italy in Delhi’s Chankyapuri. Tomorrow Babu Pal’s work is going to Delhi.
Babu Pal is among the few torchbearers of Chandannagar light artists, of whom Sreedhar Das participated in the Thames festival in London in the 90s.
