The Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) has decided a complete tax waiver for all government aided schools across the city.
The decision was approved in the KMC’s MMIC meeting on Wednesday. There are several government aided schools in the city that have been paying property or assessment related tax to the KMC till date.
“There was a proposal of tax waiver for government aided schools that has been approved today. From now on, the KMC will not collect any tax from all such government aided schools within the KMC ‘s jurisdiction,” said KMC deputy mayor Atin Ghosh.
According to KMC estimates, there are about 1,500 such government aided schools across the city falling under KMC jurisdiction area.
