The corona virus pandemic is as scary as it can get. From entertainment outlets closing and educational institutions extending their dates of reopening, people are either staying indoors or seen busy educating each other about the symptoms and necessary precautions. With films, TV serials and web series shootings stalled and mass gatherings called off, a small theatre group had arranged for puppet shows in the slum areas of Tangra to help spread precautions against the disease. On March 15, they had also arranged for some workshops. “Considering the fact that it’s World Puppet Day on March 21, we have started arranging little shows and workshops for our group’s sixth National Puppet Theatre Festival. The work has been on in Kolkata and other districts too. Taking into consideration the current global health scenario, we have decided to make the precautionary measures look interesting and arresting attention through the puppet show,” said Dilip Mondal, secretary of the group.
