The country, and the world, is facing its biggest health crisis in ages. And amidst the chaos, when we are busy taking care of our problems, there’s one man in Kolkata who is thinking about others. And he has come up with a unique plan to convey his thoughts to the world.Nilmani Sen, who runs his family business of making and selling kites in Wellington, Kolkata, wants to send out his message by flying kites from his terrace. Every kite he makes nowadays has a different message. And each message is a plea to fellow citizens to follow the lockdown rules —be at home, wash hands at regular intervals, maintain social distancing and so on.

When quizzed about what prompted him to make such kites, he said, “I have done this before. Some time back, I made kites with messages on air pollution and the environment. This time, I realised that we are all in great danger due to the coronavirus outbreak. The only way we can save lives is by staying at home and stepping out when there is an absolute emergency. Since elderly people and kids are at greater risk of catching the disease, they should not go out at all. It is my humble request to them that they stay in their homes. We are all in this together. We will fight this and hopefully we shall overcome this crisis soon.”
