The outbreak of COVID 19 and the subsequent fallout has left a deep mark on artist Sanatan Dinda’s mind. The artist has painted several sets of artworks that represent the current situation. But his work is not the only activity that is keeping him busy. He has been cooking a lot — for himself and his mates.

“I have been cooking for my two brothers who stay with me. Besides the two gatekeepers of my apartment complex, who could not go back to their village, are having their meals with us. Some other mates also come during dinner. I love to cook. I have learnt to do the household chores by myself. Hence, I never had domestic helps. There is one person who used to come to do some washing. We have asked him to stay home and we all are doing our own chores,” Sanatan told us.

Elaborating his current artworks that show a lot of masked human faces, he said, “This is a time of fear, uncertainty and restlessness. The idea of social distancing is far more complex than what it seems. The masked human beings represent the current time, where a known person appears to be unfamiliar.”
