Howrah Police starts feeding dogs

After seeing the poor animals in distress on the streets, the Howrah police have started feeding the stray cats and dogs. Talking about the initiative, one of the senior police officer said that the idea was proposed by the police commissioner Kunal Agarwal and along with a Kolkata-based NGO, they have started feeding the animals. “There were many individuals, who used to feed the stray animals separately. We have taken them in and at present there are more than 1300 dogs we are feeding everyday,” said the officer.

The police personnel and the individual volunteers starts cooking from 1 pm and by 4 pm they complete the food with 80 kilograms of rice, 25 kilogram of chicken and 5 kilograms of soyabean. “In the evening, we go out to feed the animals on different police vehicles,” said the senior officer.
