College students start community kitchens to help the poor

A number of students from different city-colleges starts community kitchens to help the daily labourers during the lockdown phase. Students of Jadavpur University, for instance, are cooking for the slum dwellers living in and around Jadavpur railway station. They are cooking khichri and sabzi on the campus and then distributing them. A group of students from Asutosh College are making food for the street dwellers in an around Bhawanipur area. “I believe this is our basic responsibility. We have money and in compare to them we are living a much better life. If we do not look after them, they would most certainly perish,” said Archisman Halder, a student from Asutosh College. The students of Presidency University are also cooking food, but not only for the street dwellers but also for the stray animals.
