The New Town Kolkata Development Authority is planning to introduce contactless payment system for services like mutation, water supply connection, trade licence and booking banquets, auditoriums and stadiums in New Town. The authorities recently held a webinar titled ‘Accelerating the Contactless Payment Ecosystem in New Town, Kolkata’ to discuss the plan.
“We plan to take a number of steps to encourage contactless payment,” said a NKDA official. Similar regulations have also been made for booking football or cricket stadiums, banquet halls, ceremony lawns and picnic spots in New Town.
Hidco authorities are also planning contactless orders from its Café Ekante outlet.
