Before lockdown, Rajarshi Das used to work with Bengal’s artisan. After days of no work, he decided to ask the artisans to make masks. After the day of Bollywood Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, Rajarshi made masks with Sushant’s photo to pay tribute to one of his favourite actors.
“More than the money, this was a gesture to pay tribute. I made about 30 masks and sold them way less than the making charge. I wanted to let people wear it and show respect to the actor,” he told us.
Rajarshi usually works with kantha, batik and other artisans. “I take artisans to fairs and closely work with them. For the past three months, there was no work. Now we have decided to make masks. We are making this face gear out of our artisan textile.there is a demand for it. Face mask is here to stay,” he said.
