Recently, on June 27, several city-based musicians came together to pay a tribute to legendary music composer RD Burman on his 81st birth anniversary. The instrumental event was organized by Kaushik Ghosh on a digital platform and featured Joy Bhadra, Shouvik Mukherjee (sitar), Swarajit Ratul Guha (flute) and Suptanu Giri (keyboard). Everyone came together to celebrate RD Burman’s ageless creations. Songs like Hum Bewafa, Mere Naina Sawan Bhadon, Aaj Kaal Paon Zameen Par Nahin Padte, Mon Majhi Re Tor, Jidhar Dekhun Teri Tasveer Nazar Ati Hai and many others were played. Kaushik said, “During this lockdown, musicians have had hardly any earnings, any didn’t even get the opportunitiy to be a part of online lives either. But we should not forget their contribution in the industry. So, I came up with this concept and the response on social media was so overwhelming. It was a fitting tribute to RD Burman on his birth anniversary and also a good chance for the musicians to perform during this crisis.”
